The works of Peter Lindbergh and those of Azzedine Alaïa are brought together and converse in a community of spirit that has never faltered.
Like the artistic encounters that brought together Richard Avedon and Christian Dior or Yves Saint Laurent and Helmut Newton, Peter Lindbergh and Azzedine Alaïa have found a common territory where each of their expressions is a reflection of the other.Powered by Drime

Two foreigners in Paris
Although from opposite geographies, Lindbergh and Alaïa have cultivated similar horizons.x000B_ Originally from Duisburg, a city in Germany that easily overlooks the Netherlands, Peter Lindbergh was trained at the School of Applied Arts in Krefeld. Azzedine Alaïa's school is the Fine Arts School in the sculpture department in Tunis where the designer grew up. The whitewashed facades that reflect the deep shadows of passers-by have accompanied Alaïa's Tunisia.Powered by Drime

Le Touquet
Taken on the beach at Le Touquet, these photographs are the result of a commission from Éditions Steïdl, which wanted to devote a monographic book to Azzedine Alaïa. The designer spent almost ten years thinking about and finalising this unique work, reissued in 2018. Two now iconic series have emerged from this project, including this one and the one entitled Hôtel du Nord.Powered by Drime
Hôtel du Nord
Hôtel du Nord
Hôtel du Nord is a French film by Marcel Carné made in 1938. Fifty years later, Alaïa and Lindbergh take up residence along the Saint-Martin Canal, rue Grange aux Belles, where Arletty gaily declaimed to Louis Jouvet "Atmosphere! Atmosphere! Do I have an atmosphere face?" Of all the actresses Alaïa has met and dressed, Arletty is the one who has most influenced his style. He tracks down the mystery of the Parisian woman by scrutinising her wardrobe on stage and in the city: dresses wrapped with a zip, nude satin jumpsuits, a look devoid of any accessories...Powered by Drime
Tina Turner
Tina Turner
Tina Turner was an admirer of Alaïa's designs before she became a loyal friend. From the mid-1980s and throughout the 1990s, the couturier designed and sculpted the famous singer's stage outfits. Despite the different languages that separate them - Alaïa does not speak a word of English, Tina understands little French - the two authors are infinitely connected. Alaïa, who has always loved women with a strong head and temperament, has found in her the embodiment of his fashion with its clever curves.
“A true artist, Peter Lindbergh found beauty everywhere, and sometimes I felt he could see right into my soul. His vision, his way of seeing the wonderful and extraordinary world, appears in each of his photographs.” Tina TurnerPowered by Drime
